By taking a huge risk, I built success unlike anything I had imagined. I also discovered a platform to lift others up in the community through real estate and homeownership.

I finished the last image and posted it. Putting the logo for my brand-new company out into the world, was an entirely new adventure. At that moment, I didn’t even realize how far it would take me.

I first became a licensed REALTOR® in 2004 after spending several years in property management. That experience partially inspired me to pursue real estate and make a bigger impact. While in property management, I became a big fan of fair housing due to the inside look I received, and I was already very aware of racial disparities in the community. My first career was as a Drill Sergeant within the Department of Corrections, which was eye-opening in many ways.

In Real Estate, I knew I wanted to make a difference, but did not realize that I was stuck in a box until I started my own company in 2013. Everything changed as I went out into the community and began to learn what one person can accomplish. My family has deep roots in Atlanta, and strengthening those while making a legacy-changing impact on the community has been more rewarding than I could have hoped.

I am not only a REALTOR®, but I am a REALTIST®.  As a member of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers we advocate for democracy and housing.

I joined several boards and committees over the years, and while experiencing my own struggles and lack of support, I wanted to change that narrative for others. In the midst of opening my company, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes, two things that feed off stress. Not wanting to compromise my quality of life or be trapped in an unhealthy cycle, I looked for other avenues to heal.

I became vegan, radically improving my health and lifestyle more than I ever expected. I’m not someone to stick to the road well-traveled because as a Black woman, I learned early on in life that I need to be my own best advocate. Growing up, a lot of my generation’s idols did not survive through the years, and we were left without those mentors to look to while navigating life’s obstacles.

My mother always encouraged me to do my best not only in life but in the community. She is the most nurturing person I know and always prompted me to examine my impact as a global citizen. Throughout my childhood, I lived around the world because both my parents were in the military. No matter where we were, I connected with others and stayed extremely motivated.

I started my own business as a child – my first one was a movie rental program (before streaming or DVDs) that I began at six years old. It connected me to other families in the neighborhood and fueled my drive to do more.

After opening my real estate company, I realized what a difference one voice can make. I have already seen changes from the causes I stand for in budget allocations, school districts, and neighborhood revitalization right here in our community.

Real estate has always been about helping other people for me, and at some point, that evolved into aspiring to inspire others. I didn’t have someone to guide me through setting up my business. In fact, I was met with some overt obstacles and hostility, but I made do. I want to be that resource and guide for others as we continue to provide new opportunities to all marginalized communities and rise up together to create the lives of our dreams.

Whenever I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, singing, playing golf, and sponsoring local artists. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® and REALTIST® is the sense of accomplishment and gratitude when I help my clients reach their dreams.

We all know where we want to go – my job is to listen and help you get there. I take the time to understand my clients’ needs so together we can strategize the best course for success. Since becoming a licensed REALTOR® in 2004, I have seen the market through ups and downs. I realized that this industry is full of surprises, and I have learned how to adapt to overcome. I have seen a variety of different situations over the years, and if I do not know the answer, I will go find it for you.

Determination is something I bring to all I do, and it is what has enabled me to set records for closing deals, secure creative financing to revitalize neighborhoods and, help my clients overcome obstacles to achieve their happiness. Over the years, I have done nearly every type of transaction, and I am confident I can help you get where you want to be. Once the transaction is over, I will continue to support your success as your lifelong REALTOR® and advocate.

Sincerely,

Amy McCoy
